80 of export commodity are under standard survey

Ahad Mohammadi, head of Metrology Center of Iran, in a press conference marking the 2020 World Metrology Day, said that regarding 80% of world commodity exports are affected by standards: “Last year we produced 14 million tons of wheat, of which about 12 million ton is purchased by the government and weighed 4 times from the production process to becoming flour, and if each weighing has a measurement error of  30 kg in 40 tons, it makes a difference of 51 billion tomans, so accurate measurement and its standards are very important. Last year, 249,000 lightweight scales and 109,000 fuel nozzles were tested, he said. Regarding the use of non-contact thermometers to measure fever in order to combat COVID-19, he said: "Although in contact thermometers the maximum allowable error is less than non-contact thermometers, but it is necessary to use non-contact thermometers and therefore  We are developing a standard for calibrating these types of thermometers
