Sunday 5/19/2019 Visit the Dr. Hessaby Foundation
Mahmoud Hessaby was a prominent Iranian scientist, researcher and distinguished professor at the University of Tehran who was awarded the title of ‘The Father of Modern Physics in Iran’. Dr. Hessaby played the most prominent role in channeling modern aspects of science into Iran and established the first university, the first teacher training center and many cultural and scientific centers such as the Civil Engineering School and the Academy of Iranian Literature. His name is bonded with academic teaching of physics and establishing universities in Iran. In addition to having 25 research papers, articles and books put into print, Dr. Hessaby had a good command of French, English, German and Arabic languages and he also knew Sanskrit, Latin, Greek, Pahlavi, Avesta, Turkish and Italian, which he used for his etymological studies. He was awarded the medal of "Commandeur de la Legion d'Honneur", the greatest French scientific, medal for his theories.
Dr. Madanipour, NMCI President, with Mr. Mohammadi, NMCI Scientific Deputy, and Mr. Amini, NMCI Legal Deputy, visit the Dr. Hassaby Foundation and met Dr. Hassaby’s son, Iraj Hessaby.
In this meeting, Dr. Madanipour explained the performance of the NMCI, national and international dimension, the development of laboratories, including the establishment of the Acoustic Reference Laboratory in Iran, the Time and Frequency Laboratory and the capability of traceability. NMCI showed willingness and interest to establish a partnership with the Dr. Hassaby Foundation and to provide technical services or interactions with international organizations, which was highly welcomed by this foundation.
They also visited Documentation Center, Library and Museum of the Foundation. Finally, a gift was donated to Dr. Hassaby Foundation by the Institute of Standards & Industrial Research.
